STARTING OVER AGAIN
I had an interesting, well slightly interesting discussion with a few friends last night. We talked about what job or career we would pursue if we were starting over again in life. What job or career would you pursue if you were starting over again? Slightly smugly, I said that I couldn't think of too many careers I'd like to pursue than the one I did, a university academic teaching and researching politics. However, when pushed by others, I did relent and say that I perhaps would have liked to have been a lawyer. Being an academic and a lawyer are in some ways quite similar. Both involve research and both involve public speaking. However, there was one caveat I added to my choice. I said there's no way I'd be a lawyer acting for a certain former US President even if I would earn loads of money defending him in his many court cases.
