I DID IT!

I did it. Yes, I had purple streaks put into my hair when I visited my hairdresser earlier today.

Strictly speaking, they're not purple streaks, they are violet streaks. I have a few streaks at the back of my hair and on one side of my hair. It only cost me £30 (about $35). And of course I gave Giampiero, my Italian hairdresser, a ten per cent tip.

During my haircut, Giampiero and I bored each other silly as we talked about our respective football teams, Inter Milan and Leeds United.

I'm a little disappointed as the violet streaks don't stand out enough. Next time, I'll have more streaks put in.

I'm still in shock, not by my streaks but how fast my hair is greying!

  1. I Love it and yes it does look more violet but I think it blends in nicely with your grey hair. Kind of has a bluish tinge to it. Nice to see that full head of hair you have. My man is my age and is almost bald now.. Your hair looks so soft and would really have fun running my fingers through it.. Well done. Looks awesome..

    1. I myself go in on Tuesday for a haircut and will be dying my greys out where luckily they lay underneath my red hair as a rule..

    2. Next time, I'll have more streaks put in. At least I now what to expect. Apart from a henna dye, it's the first time I've dyed my hair.

    3. Kudos to you for trying something different. Here is to the next time you do it again. The smell of the dyes can be a bit overpowering indeed..

    4. I quite enjoyed the smell of the dye.

  2. Yes, that is quite subtle - which is good for a first try! You'll have to get more wild next time ;)

    1. It's a bit too subtle. The hairdresser kept saying as he applied the streaks in foil that he can always add more later. But by the time I saw the effect, it was too late. Next time, I'll go much wilder!
PS. I'm still getting off on the smell of the hair dye!

  3. It is quite subtle, lavender or violet. But I love it! And look at all that hair.

You’re talking to a woman with a full head of white hair, it is a struggle to see yourself like that, isn’t it?

    1. It is a struggle. And the last photo of me, I just see my Mum!
Baldness was never an issue in my family.

    2. I'm always surprised by how much grey hair is on the back of my head, since of course I never look there! I have totally white streaks in the front and I've gotten used to those, but am denial about being full salt and pepper behind my streaks.

    3. It could be said that my multicolored hair is probably a symptom of denial. But, I’d argue it’s more a feature of my colorful personality. 😂

    4. There's nothing wrong with denial when it comes to hair!

  4. It looks quite nice for a first try. Now that you have an idea of how it'll turn out, you can get bolder the next time around 😁

I used a blue dye on my hair once, hoping it'll turn the grey hair into blue highlights. Didn't quite work as I hoped. I'm sticking with an ash brown hair dye for now (yes, I color my own hair).
