ORIGINAL VERSUS COVER: PART FOUR, WALK THIS WAY

Here is my fourth post in the series in which I'll argue that the cover is better than the original version of the song. This time I'm going to compare Aerosmith's original version and Run-D.M.C cover version of the song, Walk This Way.

Released in 1975 (and re-released in 1976) and co-written by Steve Tyler and Joe Perry, Walk This Way was a hit single for the American rock band, Aerosmith.

Aerosmith's Walk This Way:

Though not a rocker, Aerosmith's Walk This Way is one of my favourite rock songs along with Bon Jovi's Livin' on a Prayer, Ram Jam's Black Betty and Thin Lizzy's The Boys Are Back in Town. However, I prefer Dun-D.M.C.'s hip hop cover of Aerosmith's song over the original.

Run-D.M.C. ft Aerosmith's Walk This Way:

While and perhaps because Run-D.M.C.'s cover features Aerosmith, their version keeps and even accentuates the brilliant guitar riff of the original song and their New York rap vocals give the song a hip hop edge. It's fusion music at its best in my opinion. It brought rock music to the attention of hip hop fans and hip hop music to the attention of rock fans. Released in 1986, Run-D.M.C.'s cover was a big hit in America, Britain, Canada and many other countries. Everyone was a winner with this cover.

Which version of Walk this Way do you like best, Aerosmith's or Run-D.M.C. ft Aerosmith's?

    I do like Run DMC’s better even though Aerosmith is good

      They're both good versions but Run-D.M.C.'s just edges it in my opinion.

    I'm not a fan of Aerosmith or other "traditional" rock bands, so definitely Run-DMC for the win on this one.

    It's like I completely missed out on the MTV era - I had not seen the video before of them on either side of the wall, banging on it - that's pretty funny.

    I still have to go with the original on this one myself as I adore Aerosmith. I did like Run -DMC's hip hop version but so glad they added Aerosmith in it. I was not a huge Hip Hop fan,yet the cover became such a Huge hit and is still played to this day either in dance clubs or on the radio. You are right as it did bring both Classic rock and Hip Hop together..

      There's some hip hop music I like, mainly the songs that have a tune and aren't just rap spreading violence and misogyny.

IS ADULT FRIENDFINDER IN ITS DEATH THROES?

Aerikvon's Death Throes by AerikVon : Having returned to Adult FriendFinder (AFF), part of FriendFinder Networks, about three weeks ago after my ban, I'm starting to believe that the site is now in its death throes. Though the blogs I follow cannot be regarded as representative of blogland, my list of followed blogs cover a lot of bloggers who actually blog as opposed to posting photos of porn without text or posting hook-me-ups. Before my ban, my guess is that I would have received on average about a hundred alerts each day.
