MURDER ON THE ADULT FRIENDFINDER EXPRESS

Image
Paula and Lillian Entwistle: In January 2006, Neil Entwistle's wife and baby daughter were found shot dead in their family home in the American state of Massachusetts. With Neil Entwistle, then aged 27, nowhere to be seen, the police assumed he was on the run. Neil Entwistle was later found living with his parents in Worksop, a town in the English county of Nottinghamshire and very near to where I live. Neil Entwistle was born in Worksop. While studying at the University of York, an English university, he met Rachel Souza, an American student from Massachusetts, via the university's rowing club. Though they got married in Plymouth, Massachusetts in August 2003, they continued to live and work in England. In September 2005, a few months after the birth of their baby daughter Lillian, the couple emigrated to America eventually setting up home in Hopkinton, a small town 30 miles west of Boston in Massachusetts. Apart from this double murder, the town is best known as the starting

GIRLFRIEND #31

Image
Girlfriend #31 shares a first name with the three famous women shown in the photos above and below. I met girlfriend #31 at work. She worked in the office on the undergraduate side of things while I worked on the postgraduate side. Work-wise our paths didn't cross but we were still required, by the university's code of conduct, to reveal our romantic/sexual relationship to our respective line managers. At work we always exchanged pleasantries. One day I was in the photocopying room and girlfriend #31 came in to also do some photocopying. While she waited we started chatting - we were the only ones in the room. The conversation got round to a newly released film, Control , about my favourite band Joy Division. She seemed interested in the film, so I asked whether she would like to see the film with me in the evening. She agreed. We met in a nearby bar, and after seeing the film, we retired to the same bar. After the bar closed, I asked girlfriend #31 back to my apartment for a n

THE SPARROWS HAVE GONE

Image
A month ago, I blogged about the start of spring - see  https://bowandarrowman. blogspot.com/2024/03/spring- has-sprung-here.html . One thing I noticed were two sparrows flitting in and out of a privet hedge in my front garden. I assumed they were building a nest. I enjoyed watching their movements through my kitchen window. However, over the last two weeks, I've not seen the sparrows. They seemed to have gone. I now know why the sparrows have gone. About four days ago I saw a cat disappear into the privet hedge where the sparrows hung out. I immediately went outside to make a lot of noise to shoo the cat away. And then two days ago, I saw a magpie disappear into the privet hedge. My guess is that cats and magpies have eaten the sparrows' eggs or, if hatched, the fledgling sparrows and that the mummy and daddy sparrow have flown away to find a safer place. The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, a charity based in Britain, estimated that domesticated cats kill up to four

ORIGINAL VERSUS COVER: PART THREE, VALERIE

Image
The Zutons: Two blog posts,  https://bowandarrowman. blogspot.com/2024/05/original- versus-cover-part-one-hotel. html  and  https:// bowandarrowman.blogspot.com/ 2024/05/original-versus-cover- part-two-sound-of.html   compared the original and cover versions of Hotel California and The Sound of Silence respectively. Here is my next post in the series in which I'll argue that the cover is better than the original version of the song. Obviously these posts are just my opinions. Third up in this original vs cover series is Valerie . The Zutons are an English indie band from Liverpool. They took their name from Captain Beefheart and The Magic Band's guitarist, Zoot Horn Rollo - weird?! Below is The Zutons' original version of Valerie . The Zutons' Valerie : The Zutons' version is good but Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse did a cover that made the song special. I'm interested in how that song was chosen to be covered and presumably bettered. Here's the cover versi

AN IDIOT ABROAD

Image
My stepson is still living with his father even though they both don't seem to like the cohabiting arrangement. At least my stepson so far has made no noises about coming back to live with his mother and myself. He's now in Thailand on holiday with two friends for three weeks. What can go wrong? Well it went wrong well before he set off from Nottingham to the airport to catch his flight to Bangkok. When he tried to download details about his flight, he realised he had booked the outgoing flight a month later than he should have done, and his return flight was booked as if he was staying in Thailand for four weeks! It turned out that he had booked his flights when he was drunk and stoned. His father has had to cough up well over a £1,000 so his son can rearrange his flights. As he said to my wife (and his ex-wife), "it's money well spent to get rid of that cunt for a few weeks!" My stepson has been in Thailand for just over a day and he's already phoned his mot

ORIGINAL VERSUS COVER: PART TWO, THE SOUND OF SILENCE

Image
Simon & Garfunkel: Following my blog post,  https://bowandarrowman. blogspot.com/2024/05/original- versus-cover-part-one-hotel. html , comparing the Eagles' and Alabama 3's versions of Hotel California , here is my next post in the series in which I'll argue that the cover is better than the original version of the song (at least in my opinion). Second up in this original vs cover series is The Sound of Silence . Originally titled The Sounds of Silence and released initially in 1964 as an acoustic song to little fanfare, an electric remixed version of Simon & Garfunkel's song was released a year later in 1965. The song then soon became a big hit in many countries. Simon & Garfunkel's The Sound of Silence - don't you just love the recording crackle?!: Now I like Simon & Garfunkel's The Sound of Silence song even if they are a bit folky for me. But nearly forty years later I came across a cover version of the song which I loved and which I t

I'M CRACKING

I'm just writing this for reasons of transparency. My stance regarding Adult FriendFinder (AFF) since getting banned was to get back primarily to retrieve some of my blog posts. Also, I wanted to say 'goodbye' on my own terms rather than unceremoniously disappearing. After retrieving my blog posts, I decided that I didn't want to deactivate my account as I wanted to maintain a link to my blog. With hindsight, it would have been easier to have done a 'hello I'm back' blog post as I wasn't actually saying 'goodbye' in the only blog post I've submitted since my ban was lifted. Also, it would have saved me time stating that I was back in one single blog post than writing the same thing to many people in comments and replies on a multitude of blog posts. Since my return to AFF, I have been in lurk mode reading blog posts and occasionally commenting on posts submitted by my blogging friends. My plan was to resume blogging there if and hopefully whe

NO MORE MR WORDY

Image
With this blog post, I hereby renounce my Mr Wordy title. This platform isn't big enough for both a Ms Very Wordy (aka Ms County) and a Mr Wordy! What do you call a no-eyed fish? Fsh!

GIRLFRIEND #19

Image
Girlfriend #19 shares a first name with the three famous women shown in the photos above and below. Like girlfriend #20, I met girlfriend #19 at a drunken dinner party hosted by one of my best friends. However, unlike girlfriend #20, I didn't have sex with girlfriend #19 after dinner. I had known girlfriend #19 via my best friend for a couple of years beforehand. Though we got on okay, there was no spark between us. She was much younger than me and she seemed to like men who played rugby - I wasn't then and nor am I now a macho man. Conversation over dinner was good, and there were unexpected signs that girlfriend #19 was flirting with me. I didn't particularly reciprocate but noted her verbal advances towards me. My best friend's partner also noted her verbal advances, so much so that in the morning, with girlfriend #19 out of earshot, issue me a warning to stay clear of her as she is trouble. At breakfast, all four of us continued where we last left off at the previou

ORIGINAL VERSUS COVER: PART ONE, HOTEL CALIFORNIA

Image
Eagles: I'm going to do a small series of short posts - I promise it'll be small and I promise there'll be short - comparing an original song with a cover version which the cover is better than the original in my opinion. Obviously this series will be all about opinion. And my opinion is no better (nor worse) than anyone else's opinion. With the exception of covers played live, especially by tribute acts, a cover is only better than the original version if it is markedly different in my opinion. And it's a brave act that covers an original that was a big hit. For two those reasons alone, I'm discounting Bauhaus' cover of T. Rex's Telegram Sam , The Stranglers' cover of Dionne Warwick's Walk on By , Doctor and the Medics cover of Norman Greenbaum's Spirit in the Sky , Damian Marley's cover of his father's Bob Marley and the Wailers' Exodus and Toploader's cover of Boffalongo's Dancing in the Moonlight . I'm also exclud

ADULT FRIENDFINDER'S GROUPLAND

Image
Regarding Adult FriendFinder (AFF), most comment here understandably tends to focus on its blogs. I want to focus on groups on AFF. Just as blogland has noticeably declined on AFF, groupland has also declined. Though I'm sure there are more, I can only think of a few groups that are active on AFF - HNW Bloggers, Club 7 and, to a lesser extent, Live from AFF come to mind. Over the last couple of years, many groups are now often used as an extension of a member's blog and/or used by members to submit hook-me-up posts. From where I'm standing, there doesn't seem to be a lot of group discussion going on beyond the 'hook-me-up' and 'wanna-fuck-you' lines. In my opinion, two events caused the decline of groupland. First was the move to the Community side as part of Andrew Conru's plan to create an adult social media site. Many group posts never made the move over making groups somewhat discombobulated - I love that word! This technical glitch was compounde

LAST NIGHT'S EUROVISION

Image
Sweden's Loreen: Last night's Eurovision Song Contest, held in the Swedish city of  Malmö,  was quite a strange affair. It was most unEurovision-like. The previous year's winners always host the next contest - last year was won by Sweden's Loreen. Eurovision, the most watched non-sporting contest in the world, usually tries to keep politics out of its proceedings. The idea behind Eurovision, which started in 1956, was and still is to bring Europeans (and more latterly Israelis and Australians) together through music. But this year's Eurovision, rightly or wrongly, was very political. Two years ago, following its invasion of Ukraine and continued occupation of large parts of the country, Russia was banned from participating in Eurovision. Three years ago, Belarus was banned for submitting an entry mocking anti-government protests in its country. This year's Eurovision was largely overshadowed by demonstrations against Israel's occupation of Gaza. All songs en

MY 'LAST' POST

Image
Below is my 'last' blog post submitted on Adult FriendFinder (AFF). My original plan was to make my last post a goodbye post, at least until some serious changes are made to AFF's senior management. However, I don't want to deactivate my account as I still want a link to my blog there. The post is an acrostic - the message can be read by reading the first letter of each of the eleven bullet points. I wonder whether it'll get approved and whether I'll get banned again. My guess is that it will and I won't. ________________________________________________________________ TEN THINGS ABOUT ME Recently re-started by @JN63JPN after a long hiatus, @superbjversion2 tagged me to reveal ten things about myself. I'm going to reveal not ten but eleven things about myself for reasons that hopefully if not cryptically will become apparent. 1.  Joining the site in May 2008, I've been a member for 16 years! Initially I joined as part of a swinging couple, but the la
